Vet Tech Appreciation Week - Christina

Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week - Christina

This week we’re celebrating our Veterinary Technicians as part of National Veterinary Technician Week. These are the highly skilled and trained veterinary nurses which perform treatments, take samples, and assist in surgery behind the scenes. While you may not see these team members in action, without them working behind the scenes we’d have a hard time keeping the place going! We’re going to feature each one of our three wonderful Veterinary Technicians this week. Please show them the love that they often miss out on being behind the scenes!

Today we’re featuring Christina. Christina is our longest serving Veterinary Technician and has been with us since the beginning of 2016. While that might not seem like a long time, remember that we are only three years old. She’s been here for over half of our existence!

Christina holds her AS in Veterinary Technology from Miami Dade College. Since then, she has served in several veterinary emergency settings around Florida. She currently moonlights at Veterinary Healthcare Associates in Winter Haven as well. Because of her background in emergency medicine, she has developed a no-nonsense, get-it-done mentality that makes her incredibly efficient in performing treatments and taking samples in the back.

While her educational background is in veterinary medicine, she has also developed a thriving realty practice. She often spends her breaks on the phone coordinating walk-throughs and sales. Her no-nonsense mentality must make buying or selling a house with her very easy!

Some might think that between working here, moonlighting at VHA, and having her own realty company would take up all of her time; however, that isn’t the case. She always puts her family first! She has two children and a husband. He’s a successful banker. Her oldest daughter is following in her mother’s footsteps and has gone into the family realty business. Her youngest daughter is a dance prodigy, and Christina is very active in her daughter’s dance life! If that weren’t enough, she also has two dogs (a Chihuahua and a Jack Russell), one cat, and about 30 cichlids (colorful fish). I have no idea where Christina gets all her energy from!

We love working with Christina as she is always going above and beyond with all of her work. She leads the team in their work in the back and jumps in wherever else when necessary. She can also be a one woman team and can handle all sorts of tasks that would normally require 2-3 people. She is also excellent with fractious cats. She’s earned the nickname “the cat whisperer.” If she’s working with an upset cat, she can calm it, get it to hold still for all its treatments, and maybe even purr!

Please show Christina some love by leaving her some great comments. You’re also welcome to share her post with your friends and family so the whole world will know just how great she is!
